Spiritual practice
We invite you to our Gurdjieff Summer Week 2026 in the classical heritage of the practical Gurdjieff teaching – represented in direct lineage by Robin Bloor.
In the tradition of the teaching, carried by the power of group work, we experience ourselves and others as embedded in a larger context, in a greater whole, and experience the transformative power of a practised spiritual teaching, of Gurdjieff music and the Movements.
Themed talks and discussions, daily meditation and Movements practice, communal cooking, a sweat lodge,
an evening trance dance, a building project (small forest playground), barbecuing and celebrating, working and learning together…
A week of shared life within a spiritual community: meditating, inquiring, and learning - including the daily practice of Gurdjieff Movements, thematic lectures and presentations on Gurdjieff’s teachings, group discussions and sharings, and collectively organized activities for the upkeep and maintenance of the place, such as meal preparation and housekeeping.
The Teaching
G. I. Gurdjieff is one of the most significant spiritual teachers of the 20th century. His teaching and cosmology offer us a new, objective view of the universe, human life, and our own inner functioning.
Spirituality and personal development become understandable and tangible – each reflecting the other, revealing greater interconnections that can influence and transform our existence.
Robin is an experienced researcher and teacher from the direct lineage of the Gurdjieff teaching, conveying in his talks and discussions a deep knowledge and understanding of the teaching and its application in practical life. With acuity, precision, intensity, patience and humor, he carries the richness, depth and transformative power of the teaching into our time.
The Movements
Gurdjieff Movements are traditional ritual dances, meditations, practical physical exercises and prayers in movement – practised and danced in a group.
A Gurdjieff Movement consists of several fundamentally simple, often unfamiliar sequences of moves in the individual parts of the body – feet, arms, head, torso, etc.
Together they form a harmoniously complex and beautiful whole, presenting the dancer with a singular challenge: to be fully present.
„I recognise that coordinating the various movements of my own body is not as easy as I thought. When I surrender fully to these movements while remaining awake, attentive, relaxed and open, I experience moments of a particular inner balance, harmony and equanimity that have far-reaching and profound consequences for my everyday existence.“
The substance – the essence of the Gurdjieff teaching reveals itself only and exclusively in direct personal experience – the practice of the Movements creates this transformative space of experience: Understanding of the teaching and ones own perception fuse in the fire of practical effort – between perseverance and joy – into something Gurdjieff calls Being – and whoever experiences it once knows what it means and what they have been seeking their whole life.
The Community
We invite you to be part of a community for this time: people who learn, explore, talk, share, meditate, dance, sing, celebrate, cook, eat, rest, look, wonder, become more awake, and grow – together.
Daily activities and shared projects will include: meditating, reading, singing and making music, cooking, eating, cleaning, maintaining the site, small building projects to enhance the space, etc.
Parents, families, children – every living community needs children – they are our future.
We warmly welcome you and your children – together we will organise appropriate childcare and some shared activities; everyone can contribute and we can learn from one another.
Children attend free of charge.
