Simple exercise for coordination, sensing the body, balance, sense of rhythm, transitions.
Level 1 "basic"
Move always with the music (the steady tone playes the eights, i.e. double as the speed of the actual measure, which is in 4). Count inwardly (or loud) 1, 2, 3, 4 (each count gets two played tones).
Arms
- move the right arm with each note of the steady tone (in eights), up and down, first up forward to horizontal, then down 45 degree, continue to move it between these two positions, like a pendulum
- the other arm moves half that speed, between the same positions
- after 2 measures, switch the arms (without putting them down before)
- arrive to switch the arms every measure
Practice with full awareness of the clear and regular transitions of the arms and legs. Use the three different musics (different speed).
Level 2 "medium"
Practice level 1.
- experiment with differents speeds of the faster moving arm: from very quick, witha definite stop, till continuously, without any stop, just a change of the direction (up/down)
- experiment with different speeds of the other, slower moving arm, the same as for the other
- arrive at moving boths arms continuously without stop, or one and the other moving very quickly and sharp
Level 3 "advanced"
Practice level 1 and 2.
- add the head: in the speed of the eights, move the head down and back, right and back, left and back, down and back
- arive in adding circular counting to these 4 movements (down-back as one movement)
